Replacement doors?

I have some old storage cupboards in my garage for paint etc. However the doors are now completely knackered and falling apart. Is it feasible to get the doors replaced as looking at the prices for replacement cupboards and the hassle of disposal etc. and where would I go to get this done. Been a couple of places and they suggested MDF which is a bit thick as the doors are pannelled with each panel (2) on each door about the thickness of plywood.

  1. Its wiser to use the wood that you have than to get new ones;saves money and you do not have to worry about disposal.
  2. If they're in the garage, get some playwood, and cut it to size and paint it. It would be fine and neat looking and very inexpensive. If you want to be fancy, router the edges round. Jim
  3. MDF is crap, will not hold up to the abuse of a garage storage door. It doesn't hold screws well, is basically a thick cardboard. I would use plywood, the cost is about the same, maybe less and will hold up much longer.
  4. Being that there in the garage I would make them with plywood maybe router the edges and paint them. Why go to the expense of buying new doors.
